As part of the dissemination strategy for the HANDSON-ICT project, I have been out and about raising initial awareness for the project. On Wednesday the 12th June I attended the Thematic network group 1 of the UK National Agency and I was able to raise the awareness of the HANDSON project among delegates from other EU projects. The following day I attended the National Conference for School Leaders where a colleague presented HANDSON leaflets from an exhibition stand at the Birmingham International Conference Centre. Then the following day it was the Computing at Schools National conference at Birmingham University. This event was over-subscribed due to the massive need for professional development generated by the shift in the English Curriculum to a much greater emphasis on Computational Thinking and Computer Programming. This could be an area where HANDSON has a great role to play. From the 8th to the 10th of July I was able to contribute with the rest of the team to raising the profile with the influential delegates attending both the ITTE conference and the associated Miranda Symposium and MirandaMod. With a trip to Prague planned on the 19th of July for the final meeting of the GEBOL project I will get the opportunity to make colleagues from Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Romania, Netherlands and Bulgaria aware of this exciting new initiative. We can explore synergies and the options to make both projects sustainable.
